One morning I went to wake Alex up for school and found a note that he had written the night before placed near his head. The note said "Dear Mom and Daddy, Why don't you ever say please or thank you. I never notis that I do anything right or good so please say plese and thank you like when I set the table for when the missionare are eating with us. or when you tell me to take the trash cans up say please then when I get them down say thank you" from your son alex kelley :) " For the rest of the day Dale and I made an extra effort and said please and thank you everytime it could be said. The next day we recieved another letter acknowledging our great efforts and telling us to continue them. (We had to sign that letter and return it to Alex to assure that we understood)
One day shawn had forgotten something that he needed after school for his band program. I was extremely busy that day and felt really bad because I couldn't get it to him until right at the school bell. I worried all day because I couldn't call and tell him I was bringing it and I didn't want him to worry. I got home late in the afternoon and ran in to get it, I checked the answering machine and shawn had not called. I was worried that he was not going to participate in the program and just take the bad grade because he forgot his stuff. I raced over to the school 5 minutes before the end of the day bell and had him paged. When he came into the office, he smiled and got his stuff. I said "Shawn, I was so worried that you were going to go home and not do the program because you didn't call and I couldn't call you"...He said "Mom, I wasn't worried, I knew you would bring it"
Melissa's Baptism is coming up and her baptismal program is going to have to be different than her two older brothers. I was trying to get her excited about how her baptism day was going to be, yet I noticed that she remained sad. I continued to try and get her excited about it, and she said "mom, it's ok, it doesn't matter what happens, the only thing thats important is that I get baptized"
